Olympic Beach, also known as Olympiaki Akti, is one of the smallest resorts at the foot of Mount Olympus. This makes it the place to be if you want an active vacation in Greece, in Pieria.

Where Is Olympic Beach?

Olympic Beach is located in the close neighborhood of Paralia Katerini, the well-known beach resort on the Olympic Riviera.

What makes Olympiaki Akti much better than Katerini is the tranquillity and the serenity you can find here.

The sandy beach is very long. It stretches along the entire village, and even beyond that. This makes it perfect for long morning walks, which I love. I’m a big fan of walking on fine sand or through shallow water.

South from Olympic Beach you’ll find the Gold Beach Camping, and then Limenas Litochoro, Plaka, Leptokaria, Platamonas, Nei Pori, and Kastri. There’s no way to walk to these resorts on the beach, but they are really close on the main road.

There’s nothing special about Olympic Beach, other than it’s so small that it even doesn’t have an ATM machine (I guess it has now, but the first time I’ve been here, I had to walk to Paralia Katerini to get some cash from an ATM machine.

Why Visit Olympic Beach, Greece?

It has instead spectacular sunsets and it’s close to Olympus mountain, home of those Greek gods and million lizards and butterflies.

This quiet beach resort is a great choice for all of you, beach and nature lovers who don’t want noise and crowds.

Beware, though, the time you choose for visiting Olympic Beach can make a huge difference. I’ve been here in June and September, in different years, and I loved the quiet atmosphere. However, some of my friends told me that the resort gets busy in August.

For longer stays here, I would recommend taking some day trips. Check out the following trip to Dion from Katerini:

If you rent a car, you can go to Kalambaka, to see the Meteora monasteries.

I always rent a car when I visit northern Greece, because I enjoy the freedom of moving where and when I want. Nonetheless, day trips are the next best solution. Just check out the following tours, to see if you can find one that suits you:
