7-Day Morocco Itinerary from Marrakech

Day 1 – Arrive in Marrakech

Arrive in the vibrant city of Marrakech and check into your riad.

A riad is a traditional Moroccan guesthouse with an interior courtyard. That’s the type of accommodation many people prefer when it comes about Marrakech.

Wander the captivating medina, shop the souks and explore Djemaa el-Fna square, the heart of the city.

Day 2 – Discover Marrakech

Dedicate the day to exploring Marrakech’s top sights like the beautiful 12th century Koutoubia Mosque, historic Bahia Palace, and the photogenic Majorelle Garden.

Visit the ancient city walls and haggle for souvenirs at bustling souks.

Day 3 – High Atlas Mountains Villages

Take a day trip to the villages of the nearby High Atlas Mountains.

Drive through lush valleys, seeing traditional Berber homes and farms. Hike among pine forests and stunning mountain vistas.

Day 4 – Ait Benhaddou

Drive to Ait Benhaddou via the scenic Tizi n’Tichka mountain pass.

If you don’t want to rent a car and drive it yourself, hire a private driver or join an organized tour to get from Marrakech to Ait Benhaddou.

Stay overnight in a renovated riad in the epic 11th century fortified kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Make sure you book your night in the riad before showing up

Day 5 – Ouarzazate

Travel to Ouarzazate, nicknamed the “Doorway to the Desert”.

Discover Taourirt Kasbah and visit the Atlas Film Studios where many famous movies were filmed.

Overnight in Ouarzazate.

Day 6 – Sahara Desert Camel Trek

Take 4x4s deep into the Sahara for a memorable sunset camel trek over towering golden dunes.

Day 7 – Dades Valley

Return from the desert to the Draa Valley. Stay in the town of Boumalne Dades and explore the Dades Valley and Gorges, with stunning rock formations and colorful “monkey toes” limestone rock formations.

Day 8 – Return to Marrakech

Drive back to Marrakech. Fly home from Marrakech or spend more time exploring the city. Shop for last-minute souvenirs before your departure.

Day 1: Arrive Casablanca. Visit Hassan II Mosque, markets. Overnight in Casablanca.

Day 2: Train from Casablanca to Marrakech. Check into riad.

Day 3: Explore Marrakech, Djemaa el-Fna, souks, Bahia Palace, Koutoubia Mosque

Day 4: Day trip to the High Atlas Mountains and villages. Overnight in Marrakech.

Day 5: Drive to Ait Benhaddou via Tizi n’Tichka Pass. Overnight in kasbah.
